Scarce portfolio-catalog from an historic 1962 exhibit ofmid-century American art pottery, including work byKarnes, Littleton, Scheier, Voulkos, and others Clay Today, exhibition catalog/portfolio from the School of Fine Arts, State University of Iowa, December 4, 1962 - January 8, 1963. Illustrated 20-page booklet plus 25 loose pictorial sheets printed on cardstock, housed in a pictorial cardboard folder measuring approx. 9.25 x 8 in. A bit of light wear to folder (early ink name to inside flap), otherwise clean and fine. A scarce and attractive reference from this historic exhibit, which showcased the work of some of the most prominent American art potters of the postwar era. The booklet includes essays, a complete catalog of the exhibition, and biographies of the participating artists. Of special interest are the 25 loose sheets featuring photos of nearly 50 works in the exhibition. Also included is an original press release related to the exhibition, a printed notice announcing a pottery workshop by Warren Mackenzie, and a contemporaneous newspaper clipping on the exhibition, featuring a large installation photo.
