Auction summary: This auction is for an almost complete set of vintage early 1970s Airfix 1:72 scale (otherwise known as HO-OO) ‘RAF Personnel’. Comprises 35 figures plus 2 tenders and 2 shells, moulded in cream plastic. Unboxed and unpainted. Ideal for spares or additional figures for display sets, etc. The ‘RAF Personnel’ set - introduced in 1972 - was a really interesting addition to Airfix’s 1:72 scale range; a full boxed set would have been 37 figures in 19 poses, plus 2 tenders and 2 shells. Therefore, this lot represents the majority – all but 2 figures - of a complete set. As well as pilots there are various mechanics performing maintenance and rearming roles include some handling machine-guns, ammunition and even a camera. The important role of women is recognised in the set with a WAAF officer and an aircraft-woman handling a gun. The ground crew are all wearing standard later war service uniform and the detailing in this set is generally better than average. Condition summary: Figures are in excellent ‘played with’ condition. Excess plastic - ‘flash’ – is a problem on just a small number of figures. Photo shows the figures. ‘Postage’ charges: £2 for UK (Royal Mail second class); £3 for Europe; £4 for outside Europe.
