100% complete and in excellent plus condition. Original MEGO body. Original MEGO bodysuit complete with tail. According to the book by Benjamin Holcomb, “MEGO 8”Super-Heroes: World’s Greatest Toys”, this figure was designed to serve as an enemy of Spiderman. It reads, “Spiderman’s arch enemy, the Lizard. Mego produced the Lizard with one impetrative in mind; satisfy the public’s desire for Spider-Man merchandise. Issued concurrently with Green Goblin, the original boxes proclaim, “Spider-Man’s Arch Enemy” above the character logo. MEGO discontinued Lizard shortly after issuing the original 2 nd issue Marvel card. The figure was first issued by MEGO during 1975 on a green, type 1 body with specially designed lower arms and legs molded in green plastic, sculpted with detailed reptilian scales. There is at least one type 1 specimen with a flesh colored torso, pelvis and upper limbs. Later in 1975, MEGO introduced the Type 2 body. The revised body required new limbs for the Lizard. Like Type 1, the Type 2 Lizard’s right hand is a fist, but MEGO took the opportunity to add wrist articulation. The head represents one of the more challenging paint masks in the entire line.
