1978 "Cien Pesos" Mexican silver coin 38 years old. Contains .6428 ounces of pure silver, 72 percent of the full weight of the coin. Fair market value at $14+. Minted between 1977-79. This was Mexico's first 100 peso coin, but only survived three years, so it has some historical collector's value.The observe features a portrait of General Jose Maria Morelos, a 19th century Mexican revolutionary who led the Mexican War of Independence. The words "Plata Pura 20 Gr Ley .720" mean pure silver 20 grams .720 fine.The reverse features the Mexican coat of arms: an eagle with a snake in its beak standing top a cactus.The coin was minted at La Case de Moneda de Mexico, the oldest mint on the American contents, established in 1535.I mail promptly on payment.
