The Bill of Rights coins were issued in 1993 to commemorate the drafting & ratification of the first 10 amendments to the U.S. Constitution - known collectively as the Bill of Rights. The obverse/front depicts James Madison (not yet President) drafting the amendments with his home - Montpelier - in the background. On the back/reverse is the Torch of Freedom with inscriptions on both sides - “The Bill of Rights” & “Our Basic Freedoms”. Unlike most modern commemorative clad half dollars, the Bill of Rights half dollar is 90% silver. Total coin weight is 12.5 grams, about 1.2” in diameter - same size as other half dollars. This is an Ultra Cameo proof coin - slabbed - minted at San Francisco - graded PF/PR69 by NGC.
