1996 US PROOF SET IN ORIGINAL MINT BOX Up for sale is 1 1996 United States Proof Set. It comes in the original mint box. The coins are free of major defects . Proof sets come in hard plastic cases and contain one of each coin made in the year of issue. All coins are struck in the San Francisco mint. Beginning in 1936, the US Mint began producing proof sets. Sets struck from 1936–42 and, when resumed, from 1950–72 include the cent, nickel, dime, quarter, and half dollar. From 1973 through 1981 the dollar was also included, and also from 2000 on. Buyer to pay $2.99 shipping.
