This is a quite stunning gothic carved wooden oak corbel with the gargoyle of which: During our research we have been informed it certainly dates from the 19th century and is of a black forest origin . The last of similar gothic gargoyle corbels. Wonderful intricate carving of the gargoyle with the open mouth and decorative head. C arved in relief. Mounted onto a decorative carved wall bracket.The gargoyle has an overall size of about 6 x 1.75inches.Including the bracket, the bracket having an overall size of about 6.25 x 2.25inches. Max depth from a wall of about 7.5inches. Condition: Considering the age, the overall condition is excellent with three holes underneath the neck and is subject only to chipping to the side of the bracket . All as per pictures.
