This Connecticut (possibly New York, but most likely Connecticut) early 19th C (circa 1820s) tray is from the best period of American Toleware. The tray is made of 2 pieces of tin, seamed in middle --- as all these larger period trays should be. 17 1/2" x 12". Bird with flower decoration. Paint is all original and done by free hand. There is paint loss. Bottom right corner has most loss. Otherwise some scattered spots. Photos tell the story. I've taken photos with and without flash. 1st photo is with flash. There is some lint in spots, this could be removed as desired. I imagine over last 180 years, this was wiped when it was humid, the lacquer gets soft, and some lint sticks. I have not tried to clean this. Hard to find this period American painted tin, with this decoration, on eBay. Please see all photos as they are part of the description. Ask any questions. Thanks for looking.
