This auction is for a pair of old Japanese Imari plates, 9 1/2" in diameter. They have different designs around the rim but the center of the plates is the same. Both are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. One has a spot on the gold rim which shows white w a spot of gold is missing. This place is very tiny and smooth (not a chip) and hardly noticeable but worth mentioning. One plate shows a geisha amidst floral designs in colors of gold, cobalt, rust, and aqua. The other plate has floral designs in the same colors with an addition of a little blue and yellow. As I mentioned before, the center of the plates is the same. The plates appear to have had a mark but it has rubbed off. You can see a semblance of a mark on one of the plates, but it is too light to discern the details. I believe the plates date from the early 20th century but I would welcome comments from anyone who has information about the age of the plates. The pair, which come ready to hang, would make a lovely oriental statement above a table or any other wall space. Shipping will be quick after payment is received.
