You're bidding on a 2006 Tuskegee Airmen 1.5" diameter bronze medal produced by the United States Mint and graded MS 69 by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation, the official grading service of the American Numismatic Association (ANA) and Professional Numismatists Guild (PNG). This outstanding medal honors the unique military record of the Tuskegee Airmen, who flew with distinction in the United States military during World War II. The obverse depicts three Tuskegee Airmen in profile: an officer, a mechanic and a pilot. The reverse depicts the three aircraft types the Tuskegee Airmen flew in World War II and is based on a logo design of the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. The aircraft in the design are the P-40 Warhawk fighter, P-51 Mustang fighter, and B-25 Mitchell bomber. The medal bears the mintage date (2006) but no mint mark (though the Mint specifies their Philadelphia facility as the source). The quality of this example is nothing short of amazing given the extraordinarily poor handling these medals generally receive during production, warehousing, and shipping. In hand the medal is a bright copper color, like a new one cent piece - the scanner images make the color appear much darker than reality. You'll receive the exact medal in the obverse/reverse scans.
