1939-45 Star/Atlantic Star/War Medal 1939-45 all unnamed as issued. With handwritten casualty slip, named to Temporary Lieutenant Commander (E) Robert Pollock Beattie, RNR.With box of issue addressed to Miss E. Beattie,14,Ashley Drive Bangor,Co Down,Northern Ireland. Lieutenant Commander Beattie, KIA aged 40 on the 29th June 1940 whilst serving with HMS Willamette Valley a Q ship. The son of James B and Margaret S. Beattie, he is remembered on the Liverpool Naval Memorial. HMS Edgehill, 1931 renamed Willamette Valley and became a Q ship was sunk by torpedoes from U51. With a folder full of research, including census details, unit research etc… Scarce high ranking casualty to a Q Ship. Nearly extremely fine
