Great, estate-fresh lot... these are the final items from a complete dinner service that I have recently sold on ebay... These were my favorite items, and I thought I might keep them, but just no room... so they are...3 sets of ANTIQUE, marked "MASONS ....PATENT IRONSTONE CHINA....ENGLAND" double handled soup cups w/ deep saucers... Great Classical decoration depicting ruins, pastures and cows. Deep crimson transfer decoration, with hand done, colored overpaint (blue, yellow, red, orange and green). If I remember correctly, this pattern began production in 1830, and the set was all from an early run... great, old, yellowed color, and fine craqueleure... Both the bowls and the saucers have wonderful shape and detail... They are mar ked as follows... THE CUPS... all 3 have the Masons stamp w/ crown, in crimson..., one has a small blue, stamped "H", and I think the other 2 have a tiny "N"?? in pencil.. THE SAUCERS... ALL have the same stamp... One has "C3053" over "40" with a crimson stamped "G", and something incised stamped... TWO have "C3053" over "N" with a crimson stamped "N" and an incised "OB" The saucers measure 7" across and are about 1" tall... The cups are 2.5" tall x 5" diam. (7" handle - handle)... Both the cups and saucers are in AMAZING condition with the brightest color ever, as if they were never used, no knife marks read more
