Type I. ACME News Press Wire Service photo. Measures 6 x 8" Fred "Killer" Burke (May 29, 1893 – July 10, 1940) was a Midwestern armed robber and contract killer responsible for many crimes during the Prohibition era. He is considered a prime suspect in the infamous St. Valentine's Day Massacre of 1929. This is part of a collection from a former employee of the UPI in Tribune Towers before this collection was moved to New York. Look for many more great images covering many different topics. These photos have been part of a working archive for many years and have had many different people removing them from folders. So there are varying degrees of wear on the photos.
