are two 35mm News Of The Day Newsreels that were released to the local theatres in 1965. The first newsreel on this reel has a running time of about 6 minutes and it describes the life and career of Adlai Stevenson. The many scenes in this Newsreel show Adlai Stevenson running for the US Presidency in 1952 and 1956. We see him campaigning amongst the voters and we see him losing to Eisenhower. We later see him at a White House function w he is welcomed by President John Kennedy. The President Kennedy scene only lasts about 20 seconds. We later see Adlai Stevenson giving a speech at the United Nations. After we are told about Adlai Stevenson's death- President Lyndon Johnson is then seen in several scenes as he gives a speech about Adlai Stevenson. We also see the UN Secretary General giving a speech about Adlai Stevenson. This first newreel has the original "News Of The Day" main title at the beginning. The second B/W News Of The Day newsreel on this reel shows the flag-draped coffin and funeral of Adlai Stevenson. We see president Lyndon Johnson and Lady Bird Johnson at the funeral ceremony. We learn that the burial will be in Illionis. This second Newreel has a running time of about 90 seconds.
