In this lot t are 53 different plain faced or flat (t are a couple of concave shaped and a couple of rolled edge) backmarked gilt buttons (one silver plated) that were used on livery and/or military uniforms from the late 1700's through the mid to late 1800's. T are American as well as European manufacturers. Sizes range from 6/16" all the way up to 15/16". All shanks are present, although t are shanks that are misshapen or bent from use. Faces and backmarks in very good condition. In my mind they could use a good cleaning, but I've left that up to the new owner. Backmarks include but are not limited to: LONDON GILT: WARRANTED FINE GOLD SURFACE; BEST QUALITY; WARRANTED DOUBLE GILT; GILT w/ Spray of Leaves; DOUBLE GILT; IMPERIAL STANDARD; RICH GILT COLOUR w/ fancy border; DOUBLE GILT w/ Crown; TREBLE GILT STAND COLOUR; BEST QUALITY LONDON; RICH ORANGE w/ leaves; EXTRA RICH LONDON w/ rays and many more different ones.
