1/6 plate dog daguerreotype - Lab or Golden Retriever?

RARE 1/6 plate dag of a large dog, possibly some sort of Retriever. The case has some wear, but is complete and does close with its clasp. I am nearly certain this is a dag, but if I am wrong, please let me know. I have been told this is not a daguerreotype, but an ambrotype or tintype. If this is a problem feel free to cancel any bids that you may have made. I am still unsure, but will go by what the people with more experience say.
