DESCRIPTION : This is a lot of well over 800 older, primarily linen-era postcards of seven Western states: Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Nevada, Montana, Idaho and South Dakota. Colorado and Utah have the largest number of cards with lesser numbers from Wyoming, Montana, Nevada and Idaho, and the smallest number of cards from South Dakota. Views include lots of scenery, as well as National Parks, some cities and towns, hotels, tourist attractions and businesses. TYPE OF POST CARDS: This lot consists of the following types of postcards in approximate amounts: Undivided Back (UDB) cards from 1900-1907 -- 3; Older cards (1910-20s) -- 90 cards; White Border era cards -- 109; Real Photo Postcards from all eras -- 25 cards; Linen cards from the 1940s-50s -- about 550 cards; and Printed cards, mostly from the 1940s-50s -- approximately 75. SIZE: Standard (approx. 3 ½" x 5 ½" ) AGE/ERA: 1905-1950s DUPLICATION: There are two kinds of possible duplication in lots: 1) duplication of a subject (e.g., multiple views of Zion National Park) and 2) duplication of a specific card (i.e., more than one copy of the same card). Some of both kinds of duplication will be found in this lot, e.g., Utah cards include a number of National Park and SLC/LDS-themed cards.
