This well carved statue of a village drummer is from the Lwena tribe of Angola/Congo. It has a very well worn surface texture from use. Statues that depict drummers are used to represent a calling and awakening of the dream world. Often, the drummers are seen to possess special powers and qualities. A bona fide tribally-used artifact. In nice condition. Slight damage to left arm. Height 9 inches or 23 cm.
