DESCRIPTION Offered today is a lovely cut glass night set, signed Hawkes, in an intaglio leaf and vine pattern. The jug is handled and is without heat checks. The intaglio is very lightly engraved and I suspect that this is a later Hawkes offering. The tumbler sits within the spout of the jug. The tumbler is signed Hawkes in block letters and the jug is signed with the Hawkes trefoil mark. The tumbler is 3 1/4" tall and 2 5/8" wide. The tumbler looks perfect, but does not have the rounded feel of an annealed edge, so I cannot say it has not been ground down. The jug is 6" tall and is 4 3/4" wide across the bottom. The upper edge of this jug has the rounded feel of an original annealed edge. Overall, this piece is in outstanding condition. This piece is cut in a great clear blank. This item fluoresces the greenish yelllow color generally considered the gold standard for identifying glass from the brilliant period of American cut glass.
