I have for sale a charge coin from the Abraham & Straus store that was located in Brooklyn, New York. A charge coin, token or card was used before credit cards. They were issued by department and clothing stores, also hotels, taxi cab companies and others from the early 1900's till the 1950's. Charge coins have the name of the store, or just the store's initials or logo along with the number corresponding to the customer's charge account. I believe Abraham & Straus was the first to uses the charge coins. On one side it reads FINDER PLEASE RETURN - TO - ABRAHAM & STRAUS - BROOKLYN, N.Y. and the other side reads ABRAHAM - 24620H - STRAUS.
