Excellent early executed C.V.M. vase. Rare acid sign. Nice colour and shape. OLd pontil. The piece stands 6 1/3 inches (16 cm high) Excellent condition. NO crack on handles! Clarification: C.V.M, V.S.M., V.M.C., M.V.M. Cappellin Venini Martinuzzi Zecchin Scarpa Cappellin Venini & Co. The company Cappellin Venini & Co. was founded in the year 1921 and already dissolved in 1925. Instead the companies Maestri Vetrai Muranese - Cappellin & Co (see the next description) and the still well-known Venini Zweig (Vetri Soffiati Muranese Venini & C. (V.S.M.)) took the place and Napoleone Martinuzzi found employment as art director. M.V.M. Cappellin Maestri Vetrai Muranese - Cappelin & Co. Also in 1925 the company M.V.M. Cappellin Maestri Vetrai Muranese - Cappellin & Co. was founded by Giacomo Cappellin, Rafaello Levi and some glassblower, who were employed at C.V.M. Vittorio Zecchin, who was the art director at Cappellin Venini & Co., also took over the position as the art director in this newly founded company. The trademark of Cappellin Venini & Co., which means the production of novel fine Soffiati glass, was taken over almost as it was. For this reason the listed Soffiati glass in the Venini catalogue mostly can not be exactly assigned to the accruement of the glassworks, which means Cappellin Venini & Co. or M.V.M Cappellin. The template remains the Catalogo Rosso! At that time the Soffiati glasses were a revolution on Murano because nearly all the other factories were adhering to historical, old templates from the 17th and 18th century. For this reason t is in particular a high value collection aspect for time original glasses. In 1927 Carlo Scarpa joined the company (calcedonia, pasta, vetri lattei). Already in 1929 the company ended up with financial difficulties and stopped the production in 1931. C.V.M. Compagnie di Vetri e Mosaici de Venezia e Murano In 1859 the company Salviati dott. Antonio fu Bartolomeo was founded and received 1862 international approval with the exhibition of the Calcedonia glass in London. In 1866 the company was new organized as Societa Anonima per Azioni Salviati & C. by Sir Austen Henry Layard and Sir William Drake. The company Societa Anonima per Azioni Salviati & C. established the business "Vendung & Murano Glas C." in London in 1868. In 1872 the company was renamed as The Venice and Murano Glass ans Mosaic Company, Salviati & C. Antonio Salviati left the company in 1877. Together with the master glassblower Vittorio Zanetti Alessandro and Augusto Castellani continued to lead the company under the name of Compagnie die Vetri e Mosaici de Venezia e Murano. In 1849 Sir Austen Henry Layard died. The master glassblowers Vittorio Zanetti and Giovanni Seguso left the Compagnie di Vetri e Mosaici de Venezia e Murano and went to Seguso Zanetti & C. Andrea Rioda was hired as glass production manager in 1901. In 1910 the company closed their glass production and changed over to dealing with glass from Murano. Mostly the glass was manufactured by Cappellin Venini & Co by Martinuzzi and Zecchin. The company merged in 1919 with Pauly & Cia. and became Pauly & Cia. Compagnia di Venezia e Murano (C.V.M.). Pauly & Cia. In 1902 Pauly & Cia. was listed in the commercial register by Emilio Pauly and other partners (Alessandro Hirschberg Hellman, Vittorio Emanuele Toldo and Ernesto Graziadei). The office was based at Palazzo Pauly close to the Markus Plaza with access from the Consorzi Bridge. In 1907 Alessandro Hirschberg Hellmann and Vittorio Emanuele Toldo were sole holders. Pauly & Cia merged in 1919 with the company Compagnie die Vetri e Mosaici de Venezia e Murano (C.V.M), which was owned by the Milan investor Sanitaria S.A. Gaetano Ceschina took over both companies in 1920 and sold products under the label C.V.M. In 1925 the company began their own glass production under the name of Pauly & Cia.
