This is an 8 1/4 inch brown transferware plate in the Phileau pattern, made in the pottery of W. Turner and Sons and so marked. It dates to the 1880 period and is in very good condition with some glaze wear but no chips, cracks, or hairlines. Note the dramatic and bold aesthetic patterning.
