AF PREWAR O GA. RED 474 AUTO DUMP CAR WITH BLUE COAL BIN AND CONTROL BUTTON IN STAMPED ORIGINAL BOX - 1941 ONLYHard to locate American Flyer Automatic Dump Car produced in 1941. This is one of Gilbert Flyer’s earliest automatic cars. The exact same car body appears in 1946 as the S gauge 716 Auto Dump Car which, due to its initial O gauge design, had considerable overhang on two-rail track. Red stamped body with top hinged side gate operated by a small, under car, solenoid. Car body with BLACK decals reads AMERICAN FLYER LINES and 474 on each side. Car shows its age with numerous nicks and two eraser-size areas of missing paint (1 on the dump gate side near the middle and 2 one spot inside the BLACK hopper body) not bad but there. Paint is overall good + to very good condition. MISSING one cast coupler. Comes with original blue unloading bin (bin shows age also with numerous scratches, etc. NOT BENT OR CREASED) and original control button. Light surface rust on underside of one truck and solenoid frame. Equipped with one side activator spring which is correct. Original AF 474 box is stamped in RED outline letters 474 DUMP CAR (somewhat hard to read due to age and color but there and readable. A difficult combination to locate; the car, the bin, the button and the box of a 1-year only production run. NOT the best by far but a good read more
