This auction is for a New Fair Trade Bolga basket. This jumbo size basket is over 18 1/2 inches in diameter and 12 inches tall! This basket is so large, I couldn't fit it on my shepard's hook I use for taking photos! The average size Bolga baskets are about 14-16 inches. This is a huge size jumbo. You can see the size difference for an average size basket I put in the photo. This other basket is 15 inches in diameter. Look at the huge difference in size. This basket is for someone who really wants a huge basket! Its a great market basket or storage basket. Color: deep red and indigo blue with natural weaving. T really is a difference between Fair Trade quality baskets and regular Bolga baskets. Not only is my concern that the weavers get paid FAIRLY for their work, but my concern is to sell only the best products. I have sold for years now and I have seen flimsy made baskets. If you look at the colors and designs I carry, you can see the difference paying fair wages makes. We ask for more colors and designs and we get beautiful products. I only specialize in selling Fair Trade African baskets. I have sold Bolga baskets locally for over 2 years. I joined the Fair Trade Federation because I strongly believe in helping the weavers of Africa. Fair Trade means the weavers get paid fairly for the work they do. It also ensures an avenue in which to sell their beautiful products. If you check out my website: you will see the Fair Trade logo displayed. Only members of the Fair Trade Federation can display that logo. Its an organization I am proud to be a part of. I pay more for Fair Trade baskets but its worth every extra penny I pay to ensure the weavers get paid for all the hard work they do on these baskets. I also carry Zulu wire baskets (as seen on the Today's show last May) and Swazi bowls on my website. I just got in some gallery grade Swazi baskets that are very very rare. The Fair Trade baskets I carry are much nicer and more intricate than other baskets. Each basket is tightly woven, unique, strong and durable. You will have many years of enjoyment from your basket :} The leather handle is beautifully tanned and braided. Its first classs! Every basket I sell comes with a detailed flye r on the laborous process of making one of these fine baskets. From the weaving of the grass to the leather handles. The leather is braided as well giving the basket a beautiful finished look. The leather has a nice uniform color and has been tanned to perfection. I sell these baskets locally and have customers many happy customers : } These baskets are made by the skilled weavers of Ghana, Western Africa. They take the local grass called elephant grass through 6 steps to make this basket. Then it goes to the tanner to have the beautifully braided leather handle put on. This basket is strong and very durable. It can be hosed down if dirty or needs reshaping. Instructions included. All the baskets are flattened when they arrive from Ghana. I reshape them, let them dry thoroughly, then they are ready to ship. These baskets are great for the market , holding newspapers and magazines , in the bathroom, towels, great gift basket, unlimited uses. I ship DHL ground, 10.00 I do not charge for boxes or handling fees. *Please Note: Because of the basket's huge size, it will have to be flattened somewhat to fit in the box. If I don't flatten it, t will be higher shipping fee because of having to use a larger box.
