Abstract Figure Carved Wood African Art Sculpture. This piece came from a large collection of African art that I purchased in an estate sale. The previous owner was an entomologist who lived and worked in parts of Africa (mainly Tanzania and Kenya) for several years in the 1980's. While in Africa, he began purchasing art from the local artists to re-sell in the U.S. He recently retired and I was fortunate to purchase a large portion of inventory from his estate. This is a complex design carved from one piece of wood. Appears to be an abstract male figure. There is a carved mouth with teeth near the bottom of the back side. Carving measures approx. 17" tall x 6" wide x 2" deep **Natural variations in wood color and/or texture and small imperfections are common in these Hand-Carved art pieces.
