1867-1967Alaska Purchase Centennial Commemorative Medals. Two medals struck to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Alaska Purchase. Silver and bronze, 64 mm. A matched set with a silver medal, 156.1 gm, and a bronze medal, 151.5 gm. The set is edge-stamped Medallic Art Co. The obverse features the bust of William H. Seward, the man behind the purchase of Alaska from Russia back in 1867. The reverse depicts a totem pole made up of a Russian-style church, eagle, miner, locomotive, and a star with 49 in the center. The silver medal has serial number 274. The bronze medal has serial number 174.
