Item for sale:* Unpainted HO gauge ALCO C-643DH / DH-643 brass model locomotive manufactured by ALCO Models.* The prototype was unique to the Southern Pacific Railroad; Only three diesel hydraulic locomotives were built by ALCO during the early 1970's* The model is in good overall condition, is powered and runs backward and forward on a test track. Movement is somewhat "jerky" which is likely due to the fact that it has been stored in a box for most of its existence. I have indicated above that it is "used" because I don't know specifically what its prior owner did with it. But for all practical purposes, it does not appear to have been run other than for testing.* The drive train is rather noisy, which is typical of older brass models. If you plan to operate the model, you will likely want to disassemble the entire drive train and clean and re-lubricate it which will most likely result in a much smoother and quieter locomotive.* Note that the six-axle tri-mount trucks are mounted "backwards" as compared to the usual axle spacing arrangement found on the typical tri-mount-equipped ALCO locomotive. That is accurate for this locomotive prototype.* All original components are present as far as I can tell, although I have not disassembled it. The locomotive is not equipped for DCC operation.
