For your consideration is this Alfred Meakin mug commemorating the opening of the St Lawrence Seaway in 1959 by Queen Elizabeth II. It is in excellent condition, showing no cracks, crazing or chips.The construction of the St Lawrence Seaway provided a link between the Great Lakes and the Atlantic Ocean. As such, it is recognized as one of the most challenging engineering feats in history. Together, President Dwight Eisenhower and Queen Elizabeth II "opened" the Seaway, making a ceremonial trip through the St. Lambert and Cote Ste.
