We have for auction one of two rare pieces, carved in 1976 at Jaslo , Poland . The church and adjoining buildings in Jaslo were richly hand carved by the community of monks, and these carvings were sometimes made to help support the Community. Bishop Karol Józef WojtyÅ,a visited t before being named Pope, said mass t, and after admiring the Altars Carved Frontal Mensa Section, one was later sent to him by the Community. He later sent it as a gift from his homeland to a Bishop from Colombia . The piece you are bidding on was entirely carved without the use of power tools. It is 1 inch thick, and the outside dimensions are 44âe by 7âe; the carving weighs 5 pounds.
