17 (43 cm.) All cloth doll with sculpted features and oil painted complexion and face has brown upper glancing eyes, dark eye shadow and brows, distinctively painted nose, closed mouth, blonde hair arranged in chignon, padded armature slender body with kid fingers artfully posed. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: portrait doll of fashionable lady of the 1870 s according to original description by Dorothy Heizer who created the doll, circa 1930 s. Value Points: the doll wears superb original silk print gown with matching velvet-trimmed jacket, coral and bead brooch and earrings, woven pork-pie bonnet with tiny rose petals, undergarments, shoes, and is being sold from the private collection of its original owner, Mrs. Samuel Yellin of Philadelphia who purchased the doll from Dorothy Heizer in the 1930 s.
