Please enquire.`````````````````````````````````` ` THANK YOU FOR VISITING THIS LISTING.Today you have an opportunity to acquire a 9 1/2 inch tall compote appearing in the Marshall Field Catalog on Page 248 and bearing number 70711. We believe that both J.HOARE &CO. and ELMIRA CUT GLASS COMPANY may have been contacted by Marshall Field to craft this crimped cup comport. The motifs are found in Hoare cut glass and particularly in Elmira Patterns "100", and "17", "17 1/2" contain the major motifs in an appropriate setting. Buyer to confirm. The tall completely handcrafted comport weighs approximately 3 pounds. Crafted on a mouth blown fine colorless-white water blank, radiant. Phosphorescence lime green positive. Quality: All requirements of quality have been met superbly. There is lingering resonance in a beautiful tone and rainbow colors in light: Enabled by light dispersion acting upon the very fine, precise, and deep, proper cutting. The pattern exemplifies balance and pattern symmetry. Condition: it is in excellent condition. We found no major chips, cracks, repairs, and no discoloration. Criteria and Motifs: Crafted during the American Brilliant Period. (1870-1916) This can be authenticated by the positive lime green phosphorescence under ultraviolet light. Only in the United States during the Period was manganese introduced into the glass mixture as a sand de-colorizing agent. It is the source of the fluorescence. The upper area is cup-like and crimped with a sawtooth rim. Eyebrows enhance the design. Strawberry diamond slanted vertical "X" crossed miter- star vesicas intersect around the bowl's perimeter. The surround a four point star-like figure; with the center clear, miter-bordered. The miter borders provide the center area shape: There is congruency: Rotating squares and a hexagon formed by the strawberry diamond filled corners. Curved sided diamond hobstars lie between the vesicas, their star centers cut in deep relief, all cutting is precise and deep, well crafted. The tall pedestal is both paneled and beaded. The base, crosshatched and crafted in scallops. A decidedly wonderful comport. A wonderful addition to any collection. AND of course a perfect gift. Questions welcome. Thank you.
