This 12 tooth inch pitch (skip tooth) is one of the largest I have ever seen and is the equivalent of a 24 in 1/2" pitch. It's probably from a balloon tire cruiser from the 30s or 40s, but would be well at home on a track bike or fixie if you need to have a rideable gear ratio with a bigger front chain ring. There is very little wear on it and the threading is English/Italian. If you have a 25 on the front, this gives you a 58.5" gear, presuming 27" wheels. A 27 tooth front = 60.7" and a 28 tooth front = 63". Smaller wheels give taller gearing. These are quite uncommon, if you need one, don't let it get away. Heck, it's cool just to have in your inch pitch collection because most people have never seen one! Tooth width is .187" or 4.7 mm.To keep the price of some of these treasures in perspective, gasoline costs in the USA are $80 to $100 for a tank of gasoline, which is consumed in a week or less. These things will all last for many years if you take care of them. I mean no disrespect for international collectors if it seems I’m asking a lot. Some of these items were small production for a year or two only.I am selling things from my private collection as I am moving out of the country.
