(Prounounced Shu-she-wits) . This is an absolutely gorgeous violin with a fine voice to match. Examine the photos and listen (and watch) this impressiveinstrument being played. This is a very important violin!It has a singing, almost lyrical sound. Big, powerrful,resonant, but sweet like a fine Italian violin. Listento it being played in the video posted below. There is absolutely no enhancement of the sound whatsoever...no special microphones, no computer alteration, no studio effects.The piece is an excerpt of the Bruch Scottish Fantasy, 2nd Movement. The player is a violin student who welcomes your comments. Enjoy! I believe this violin is suitable for solo work; its a fine, professional quality instrument that belongs in thehands of an advanced violinist or a collectorof better quality, handmade instruments. The timbers used in this violin are absolutely magnificent, old specimens. The back is carved from unusual flamed maple. The top is a really fine example of old Spruce tonewood. This is a very fine, beautifully made violin a lovely tone and ample volume...suitable for a soloist, a concertmaster, or a strong ensemble player. Our local shop has examinedit and finds no sign of any cracks or previous repairs. MEASUREMENTS Full Size ~ 4/4 ViolinOverall Length: 23-1/2"Body Length: 14"Width of Lower Bout: 8"Width of Upper Bout: 6-1/2" CONDITION: This violin in excellent vintage condition; ready to play. There are no post cracks. no cracks to the scroll...no open cracks at all. The seams are tight and solid.This is an estate instrument so naturally, there is some wear...scuffs, one that you can see adjacent to the top of the tailpiece, dings as you would expect from an instrument of this age (and which in my opinion add character and validate the age of the instrument). I've posted many pictures for you to see which add immeasurably to the written description, I think. They have no affect at all on the powerful sound or the structural integrity. I recommend that you string it and have it set up to your liking. Its a fine violin. This is fantastic violin and as usual, I have included a video sound sample (above) so that youcan judge this fine violin for yourself. Exceptional, professional quality violins of this ageand in this fine state of preservation are becoming more and more difficult to acquire on Ebay.
