Offered is an interesting and increasingly scarse item for the specialist trilobite collector; a good sized (2cm), complete prone example of the deep water Raphiophorid Ampyx linleyensis, from the Ordovician, Llanvirn Series; Abereiddian Stage, Hope Shales of Minsterley, Shropshire. This example, complete except for the librigena, which are absent in 95% of specimens recovered, is a well preserved and articulated specimen. The glabella is unusually carinated anteriorly..........a variable feature in this species.Matrix approx. 4cm X 3cm X 1cm. No reserve for a fine example of a familiar UK trilobite for the advanced collector!
