Item: Fischer J. Budapest Ewer For your considerationis a grand Fischer J. , Budapest, late 1800's art pottery pitcher. It stands 13 1/2 inches tall an about 8 inches at its widest . It is e laborately hand paint ed with iridescent Zsolnay-like glaze on a cream background. The bottom is imprinted as well as marked "Fischer J Budapest" and a faded artist s signature. The handle at some point has been restored. O ne very small one very small fleabite on the rim (#9) some of the gilding has worn from the rim and crazing typical for its age. Still a lovely old piece. Ignác Fischer founded his own workshop in 1864. Fischer produced pieces that he exhibited at the Hungarian Exposition of 1885. He was successful in winning many major awards. After 1885, the famous Zsolnay Factory of Hungary purchased the Fischer business. Condition: Please refer to photographs and description.
