This sale is for an early 1920s Remington Portable #1 Typewriter. Serial# NZ21946Oct. 1920, Model #1 released. First letter of serial number indicates Model (Portable = "N")Second letter indicates Month: Jan=P, Feb=M, Mar=L, Apr=K, May=X, June=S, Jul=V, Aug=E, Sep=D, Oct=C, Nov=Z, Dec=AThis model was the original portable typewriter with a four-bank keyboard as Remington invented the product category. These little typewriters were a great success in the market and were copied by Royal and Underwood in 1926. The "folding-typebar" mechanism raises the typebars to a 45-degree angle, the printing position, by means of a lever on the right side of the typewriter. The typebars must be lowered again when the typewriter is returned to its case. This typewriter is in its original black case which is in great condition in my opinion for its age.The typewriter is bolted to the bottom of the case. There is a sticker on the right: "Standard Remington Typewriter - US Patent. Made in USA".Dimensions with case: 11x12x4 inches (WxLxH).Sold as a collectible. It is in working condition and the ribbon is a bit dry, condition is as pictures show.Questions? Please ask.
