An Antique 19th Century Sevres Cake or Sweetmeat Plate with Gilt Basket Mount and Floral Design This is a high quality piece of porcelain with a stunning hand painted design of flowers at the centre of the plate. The gilt work surrounding the flower decoration is exquisite and is set off by the blue ground. The plate is framed by an intricate gilt basket shaped mount. The plate is fully marked on the base with a blue Sevres mark. The plate measures 10.5 inches in diameter and 7.5 inches to the top of the handle The plate is in good condition for its age and displays well. It does have three hairline cracks running through the plate, which are stable, and there are five small areas where the blue ground of the paint is missing (see photos) but no other damage. The hand painted flower design and gilding are in excellent condition and the gilt basket mount is also in very good condition with just some age discolouration.
