2 Beautiful Antique Asian/Oriental Statues+ 2 Wood Display ShelvesThis pair of antique Asian/Oriental statues stand about 16 inches tall. They are VERY ornate and were clearly hand-carved. They are truly works of art. They are also VERY heavy. I bought the statues from an antique dealer, who assured me that the statues were ivory. However, I cannot guarantee that they are ivory because t is no documentation for the statues and no inscription or carvings on the bottom. It is more likely that these statues are some form of resin like alabastrite, which is a form of polyresin that includes ground stone material in the mix. Alabastrite is often used in the creation of decorate figurines by carving the figures from a block of polyresin by hand. Since nothing else I have in my home is Chinese, I'm giving them up to someone who can enjoy displaying them in their home. One statue is a Chinese man and the other is a Chinese woman. Both are dressed in traditional Chinese clothing and have Chinese lanterns, canes, and various birds and small animals carved around them. You can place the statues on the two brown wood wall sconces, which I am including in this auction (see photo #3 and #4 to the bottom right).This is truly a beautiful set of statues... perfect for an antique lover or anyone who loves Asian/Oriental home decor.
