ANTIQUE BED Twin Canopy Cast Iron with Brass Balls Antique Bed, Iron with Brass, rare twin canopy with four brass balls. This bed was discovered in Middlebury, Vermont. When the New York World's Fair displayed Queen Victoria's Iron and Brass bed the trend had begun. Iron and Iron with Brass beds were manufactured in the U.S. from 1830-1917. World War I made the iron too valuable to use in beds. This bed has had the nineteenth century lead paint completely removed making it suitable for a child. The bare cast iron has been primed and is ready to restore in the color and finish of your choosing. This bed has great potential, let your imagination go. These beds have survived because of the strength of the hand poured cast iron. They are indeed works of art and are heirlooms that will appreciate over time. Overall measurements on the bed are 30 inches wide, 78 inches long and a stunning 72 inches tall. This bed will accommodate a modern twin mattress with the slats provided if you choose. This bed, along with our collection of antique iron and brass beds, can be viewed in Escondido, north San Diego County easily accessible from Orange County to the border. Some of our customers come down from L.A. and spend the day at the nearby San Diego Wild Animal Park after purchasing their bed. I don't ship but if the buyer would like to arrange read more
