Welcome to my auction for this stunning and ornately hand carved walnut Victorian Black Forest box. It makes a handsome jewelry box but, of course, can hold whatever you choose. Masterfully created in the second half of the 19th century it stands alone as a work of great artistic skill. MEASUREMENTS: 12" Wide 8 3/4" Deep 8 1/2" High DESCRIPTION : The lid is crowned with a majestic reclining three dimentional lion encircled with flowers, leaves and vines. The bottom portion has more intricate floral carving covering all sides. This chest rests on four feet. Walnut is a deep and warm color brown. The key fits into the lock but the lock does not function. CONDITION: Condition is excellent. There is only one vertical 3/8" crack in the panel under the keyhole.(pls see picture) Balance of wood all around is completely intact and even in color. There are no carved pieces missing or any discoloring. Brass hinge is very secure. I GLADLY SHIP WORLDWIDE. PLEASE EMAIL FOR POSTAGE.
