Perfect antique shivalingam rom Nepal. From Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu, the holy Hindu riverside temple complex w public cremations are held. Rare to find these now. 11 centimeters in length. 626 grams-heavy...Old semi-precious stone. From Gandaki River that is a Himalayan tributary near the source of the Ganges and they are most all black, unlike those in India that are found in the Narmada tributary. Shiva as a major deity in the Hindu pantheon is the Destroyer of Evil and by extension, the Bringer of Fertility. As a supreme lord, his powers of fertility are celebrated in the worship of the phallic-shaped lingam. Lingams are cylindrical in shape and rounded at the end and kept upright. Offerings such as water, milk or clarified butter are poured over the lingam by devoteespcs
