This is a rare piece from the 1920s, created by Boch (later Villeroy & Boch) this pitcher was made in Belguim A wonderful, vibrant porcelain shows pink and blue flowers along with significant shiny gold trim. The inside of the pitcher is painted a pale blue (said to make the water look prettier). The stamp on the bottom of the piece, Boch Freres, La Louviere which not only is a small town in Belgium but it was considered the "wolf period". The marks are Art Noveau period or sometime around 1920. The Boch family began to produce pottery around 1767 in Luxembourg and around 1841 founded the factory in La Louviere. It is stamped D 2940. Pitcher is in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks, chips, or crazing. Measures 7"1/2 from spout the handle. Stands about 5 3/4" high.
