Antique large rare hand-woven Chemehuevi basket. This basket was collected between 1910-1930s by an Arizona doctor. The pen letters and numbers on the back were his references to his collection notes. This is a beautiful basket, stored away since new.A nice basket with traditional tight weave and 6 diamond design. 1 rim stitch missing, a nice bowl shape.Size 6 5/8" x 2"Francis Xavier Ammann, A banker from Needles, California, originally collected this collection. He loaned his collection of over 2000 Chemehuevi baskets to a museum in California the museum use the L for loaned and the 1190 to specify the individual who had loaned the baskets. The number underneath the L is the number of each basket.
