This listing is for an antique Chinese snuff bottle, carved of Lapis Lazuli. The top appears to be pink Peking Glass, with a tiny green Peking Glass stone in the center, and the snuff spoon is intact. I am not an expert in snuff bottles, but I believe this one to be late 19th Century. We purchased it (about 1975) along with a whole collection of snuff bottles from private collectors who purchased their bottles in the 1960's. The Lapis is a medium dark blue, mottled with some natural gray calcite and tiny golden pyrite inclusions. The carving shows one rising carp (fish) from waves, with some fronds on each side. There are some natural rough spots where natural veining in the stone wasn't easy to polish, but there are no damages or chips. The bottle measures 2 inches tall to the top of the small green Peking Glass on the top, and is 1 1/4 inches wide and about 3/4 inch thick. This would we an excellent addition to a collection! Thank you for looking at my listings.
