As one looks to be making marks on a piece that two men are holding. Standing approx. 9 1/4" tall. Approx 6 1/2" across the bottom. This is all one piece singley carved. I don't know the wood, but has a mahogany type coloring. They are not real heavy We do not charge handling, in our cost we include insurance., no extra . ,If I am wrong, please send me a friendly email so I might make any corrections. Also, the piece would have originally had a lid, so I guess it is best described as a jar. You have displayed the mark with the correct side up. The upper character is the trademark of the Yasuda factory and the two characters in the rectangle are the name of the artist - Setsuzan. Both the style of the decoration and the fact that it is stamped "Japan" on the base suggest to me that it's probably from the 1920s or 1930s - perhaps even post-war.
