Up for bid are 4 antique Chinese Famille Rose (Famille Verte or green family) bread and butter plates. They measure 6 inches wide (15.24 cm) and have no chips or cracks and are in very good condition. They have the red rooster pattern. There is some interesting history on this red rooster pattern. On Sept. 12, 1748 the Swedish merchant ship the Gothenberg, upon return from Canton China, sank 900 merets away from the dock. A later excavation of the ship produced such a large amount of dishes with the red rooster pattern that it became kind of a trademark for the Gothenberg. These plates are from the estate of a family member who was an auctioneer for thirty years, Harry Beebe Nash (Apr. 1877- Aug.1960). Please check my other listings with this pattern - matching vases, teapot set, cups and saucers, 5 different size plates, bowls and platter. Thank You. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, please return within 7 days and I will refund your bid price through PayPal. Please contact me before leaving neutral or negative feedback so I can resolve any problem. I'm happy to return positive feedback.
