For auction, this gorgeous antique podeum. The massive podeum is made of solid oak wood. It has the original finish. The podeum came from a local Catholic church. The church was established in 1898, the building was constructed in 1908. This podeum is original to the church and dates to the turn of the century. The podeum is in very good condition for a piece that is over 100 years old! T is a knot in the front of the pedestal as shown in the photo, this is original to the piece. The grand piece measures 45 1/2" to the top of the sloped podeum. The top of the podeum measures 13 3/8" x 18". The base measures 16" x 16". It has spectacular fretwork at the podeum as well as at the base side supports. If you look closely, you will see a cross shape that has been cut into the top of the podeum between the fretwork. The fretwork design reminds me of doves. This stately piece would be the perfect compliment to your antique family bible. *The top podeum portion is attached by screws.
