Authentic 19th Century Copeland English Hunting Jug in superb condition.No rim chips, cracks, or breaks.It looks like a white parian relief applied to a green porcelain body. Very similar to Wedgwood.It is a high quality jug from a first rate porcelain factory. The glaze is perfect and the great detail is amazing. The hunting scene is so finely detailed that it looks like is was chiseled out of marble with very fine stonecutter's tools. It is that sharp.Copeland under glaze mark with registration number that dates it to exactly 1880 in Kovels New dictionary of marks - 1850 till present.Also impressed Copeland, impressed England, and various other impressed factory numbers.This is an English classic, and you always find an example in ceramics guides like Millers .It was listed in Millers 1998 ceramic guide for 150.00 in the blue version. This is seldom seen in the green/olive version, same as wedgwood's porcelain. This was not a popular color during this time period.I do have a very modest reserve. Beautiful jugs in this condition are scarce and desirable; and, it was not inexpensive when purchased in 1999.We will be auctioning off a very large horde of antique porcelain.
