This is 1 of 2 Steamer Trunks I will attempt to sell on eBay, although large, it is the smaller of the two, weighing 52 lbs. and with dimensions: Length 36", Width 21" & Height 24". I am unsure of the age, but I will guess late 1940's to the 1950's. The trunk has been used and well taken care of over the years. The removable insert or compartment is present and in good shape with full function of buttons/snaps. The closing and locking mechanisms are fully functional and the key is original to the lock. There is a seal or stamped image on the top front of lid (included in my pictures) that reads, "Genuine National Vulcanized Trunk Fiber", that may be useful information to a potential buyer. The trunk has a slight odor of perhaps mothballs that could have been used at sometime in the past and the smell of cedar wood is present due to the addition of several actual cedar stripes loosely placed in the bottom by last owner. The leather handles have normal or natural wear as a result of their design as lifting points for a lot of potential weight and yet have maintained aesthetics and function. I see no sign of them failing to continue to hold up under further stress of weight as I have observed in other trunks of similar age or style.
