Demitasse Set of 4 Porcelain and Silver Plated You are bidding on an antique set of 4 porcelain demitasse cups in silver plated holders with handles, silver plated saucers, and silver plated spoons. Demitasse is a French term meaning 'half cup'. It is a small, half size cup used for serving espresso. This set was purchased in Cuba in the 1950's by my great grandparents who were on vacation. The cups are a white porcelain with silver bands around the inside and outside of the rim. The porcelain cups have a blue mark on the bottom that reads, "porcelana, Veracruz, de Pedreira - SP, Made in Brazil". Each cup is 2 1/8 inches tall and 1 7/8 inches wide. The saucers are 4 1/8 inches wide and the spoons are 3 3/4 inches long. The saucers, spoons, and cup holders with handles are all silver plated and have the original stickers on the bottom that read, "Wolff, Silver Plated, Made in Brazil". The metal components of this set are quite impressive with the intricate metal patterns on the cup holders, saucers, and spoons. The silver plating is still in excellent condition as are the porcelain cups which have no chips, breaks, repairs, or crazing. The set has also never been used.
